BACKGROUND INFORMATION:

DEBRA DE VILLIERS, GRAPHIC DESIGNER

Ive always been passionate about visual arts, finding ways to express myself creatively by drawing, painting and print-making. But it was while studying Graphic Design, that I discovered digital art was much more exciting for me.

After working in the print industry at various design studios, since 1998, I moved to London where I lived for 5 years, initially freelancing before working full-time in the music industry at
a major record company, Sanctuary Records. I worked here as a graphic designer for nearly
4 years, designing album covers and all forms of related promotional material.

I then started my own freelance design business in London working mainly with a client in the IT industry, visually designing software interfacesand also had various other clients in the merchandise and music industry.

Since 2006, I spent 3 years travelling the world with my laptop & doing freelance design work both in print and web, in South East Asia, Australia & New Zealand. I am now based in South Africa again after 8 years living overseas and continuing with freelancing and running my own design company.

I have just completed an Autodesk 3d animtion course in Prague, in the CzechRepublic, so have basic 3d animation skills which I plan to use to enhance my web and 2d work, and would also like to gain more experience in 3d work.
